Starting the Farm
The hay and milking barn was the largest structure on the farm. A year or two, thankfully,
before we bought it, a neighbor needing a location to store hay put on a new roof. Here he is
starting to remove old shingles and lay down new plywood.
The image above and below was our barnyard as we found it. Here you can see some of the junk we sorted through the first fall and
spring we were on the farm. Our friend Bruce Trca-Black helped us deliver nearly 12,500 lbs of metal to the salvage yard. Rick did a
pretty good job of keeping those few things he thought would be useful. So far this has included a shovel head, chains, a pto shaft, an
adjustable tractor lift arm and a wagon running gear.
